Talcum powder is mostly made up of the minerals magnesium, silicon, and oxygen. It is used in many cosmetic products including baby powder. Talcum when in powder form absorbs moisture and keeps skin dry which helps in preventing rashes.

The downside to Talcum powder is that in its natural form it can contain asbestos. Asbestos is known to cause cancer in and around the lungs. Lab tests have shown that Asbestos can increase the risk of cancer. Asbestos is linked to ovarian cancer, larynx cancer, lung cancer, and mesothelioma.

Babies are so precious, the products that we use on these beautiful bundles of joy have to be carefully considered. Everything applied to their skin absorbs through their pores. Baby powder that has talc in the ingredients puts you and your baby at risk to be exposed to cancer-causing chemicals.

After knowing that cancer-causing chemicals are present in your baby powder can you still smile and rub talc baby powder on your baby?

Would you stick your hand in asbestos and rub it all over you?

If not! Put down the talc ridden baby powder and get you some talc-free baby powder for you and your beautiful blessing.

It is important as parents that we research and improve for ourselves what we put on our children. We are responsible for the wellbeing of our kids and what happens to them can affect us. They are too young to make their own choices therefore once we know something isn’t right about a product we have to make a change!

For every negative, there is a positive you can look at in any situation. Yes, some baby powder contains talc but there are also baby powders that are talc free, and this will make all the difference because you can still use baby powder that is free from harmful ingredients.
